Director, Medical Affairs (Therapy Development) - TMTT

Role description

The successfuly selected candidate will be responsible for driving forward EU TMTT strategy, interactions, and relationship building with the key referring communities of transcatheter mitral and tricuspid patients, heart failure and general cardiology. The goal of this role will be to improve the diagnosis and awareness of mitral and tricuspid patients in heart failure and the appropriate adoption of these therapies to improve outcomes for patients.


Key responsibilities

  • Evolving and executing Edwards strategy and engagement in the heart failure space and driving forward the discussion of how TMTT therapies integrate into heart failure management
  • Driving forward strategic initiatives to further enable Edwards to communicate, engage, and partner with heart failure specialists and cardiologists
  • Developing and presenting materials to senior management within the EU and Global TMTT organization including sharing both functional updates, strategy perspectives, and scientific content
  • Identifying and managing market research needed to answer key market questions
  • Engaging on the field with global KOLs in heart failure and cardiology and supporting in physician referral or engagement events in Europe
  • Managing a team of Medical Science Liaison specialists to develop expert panels, continuing medical education, symposiums, and referral events for EU KOLs
  • Serving as scientific thought partner to EU team members including Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Market Access
  • Developing, reviewing, and refining scientific content used for physician discussions and presentations for heart failure specialists and cardiologists
  • Developing and refining materials to drive therapy awareness (or strategic unlocks) with heart failure specialists
  • Managing and evolving a physician website designed for unbranded education in mitral and tricuspid disease in heart failure


Required qualifications

  • Add EW standard language (BS degree etc…)
  • Master’s degree in a medicine/biology/biomedical engineering related discipline or eight years of experience in a healthcare company focused in the cardiovascular space
  • Experience in non-interventional cardiology, namely heart failure
  • Experience in developing and articulating storylines for senior management including developing presentations
  • Capable of foster cross-functional and cross-business unit collaboration
  • Prior team management experience with strong leadership skills but also a collaborative approach to team engagement and activities
  • Open to learning and agile in addressing questions


Preferred qualifications

  • Deep experience in therapy development which required engagement with the cardiologist community
  • Prior experience in marketing interventional devices in heart failure
  • Prior experience in management consulting or with at least two years of experience as part of a corporate strategy team
  • Prior exposure to interventional structural heart therapies
  • Familiar with healthcare industry compliance policies and processes


Other considerations

  • Up to 30% travel majority focused in Europe
  • German language skills are an additional asset but not required
