The American College of Cardiology is launching a search for the next Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In this role, the ACC is seeking a proven physician scientist, inspirational leader and a strategic, organizational thinker to serve as the next JACC Editor-in-Chief for a five-year term, with the possibility of a single renewal. Initial responsibilities and Editorial Board formation will begin in January 2024, with the official Editor-in-Chief transition and first issue starting in July 2024.

Scientific medical publishing is a rapidly changing field; innovation and creativity are essential for future success. The traditional model of scientific publishing, in which research articles are published in peer-reviewed journals, is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of the scientific and clinical community. The new Editor-in-Chief of JACC must be inventive and imaginative to meet these challenges. The incoming Editor-in-Chief will be a transformative and contemporary leader key to JACC’s future growth and success. The JACC family of journals are at an inflection point which coincides with a redesign of cardiovascular medicine for the 21st century. This non-traditional trailblazer will have a great strategic and business mind to drive tomorrow’s medical publishing efforts.


The Editor-in-Chief will serve as a proactive and passionate global brand ambassador and advocate for JACC and the entire JACC Journals portfolio. The Editor will be responsible for continuing to grow, innovate and maintain JACC as the pre-eminent clinically focused, peer-reviewed cardiovascular journal worldwide.


Individuals must have previous publishing experience and be able to devote a minimum of 50% of their time to JACC Editor-in-Chief role.
